Coordinator’s blog 08 January

Welcome to 2016 (two more years and this century will be legal).

I’d like to start off by thanking everyone for their well wishes over the Christmas break and making out “best of” stories so popular during my absence. Also thanking people for their patience as this break was longer than previous Christmas breaks.

2016 is going to be the year of protest. I shouldn’t have to say its going to be big. declaring 2016 as the year of protest should describe how big I think this year is going to be with your help. The phones are running again (lukewarm right now but they are running). Please remember our helpline hours have changed to 12:30 to 4:30 each day. If you are wondering why the change it’s simply to give some assurance that I will be available then and not concentrating on other work or absent due to other commitments. Hopefully it will also help us expand our support in other areas (including a hope that we can start to have volunteers answering the phones as well as me).

Finalising the planning for 2016 is well under-way as is the extra support for the local networks. Our concentration for this year will be on achieving real and permanent change to the benefit of injured workers and their families as always. We got some major changes through last year but the road hasn’t come to an end yet (far from it) and we will all walk that road together.
